Iftar is being held at our location 2001 7th Avenue on the corner of 120th Street. The women's entrance is on 7th Avenue. The men's entrance is around the corner on 120th Street. All are welcome.
Al Qur'an, literally meaning "the recitation" in arabic, is the central religious text of Islam, as the Torah is to Judaism and the Bible to Christianity.
The crescent moon and star symbol actually pre-dates Islam by several thousand years.
The Kaaba, meaning "the cube" in arabic, is the most sacred site in Islam.
The Hajj is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca that occurs yearly from the 8th to 12th Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar and is the largest gathering of Muslim people in the world.
Harlem Community Islamic Center aims to create a community that transcends prejudices; a place to teach our young people the values of Islam according to the Quran and the Hadith; an open door to learning for all faiths; and respect for all people as the Prophet Mohammed S.A.W.S. taught.
Let there arise out of you a group of people inviting to all that is good (Islam), enjoining Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do) and forbidding Al-Munkar (polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden). And it is they who are the successful.
